This policy explains what Popup Guide (“we”) collects through popup.guide, why, and the choices you have. Questions: partnerships@popup.guide.
What you give us
- Forms. When you submit a brand inquiry, brand submission, news or press submission, tip, space introduction or updates signup, we store what you enter, for example your name, email, company, role, product details, links and notes.
- Form progress. On longer forms (brand inquiries, brand submissions, press submissions and space introductions) we save your progress as you type, every few seconds, so a submission isn’t lost if you leave or lose connection. This includes what you’ve typed so far even if you never press submit, the fields you completed, timestamps, the page you were on, the referring site and any campaign (UTM) parameters in the link you followed. A random identifier stored in your browser’s session storage ties those saves together. We may use contact details you voluntarily entered to follow up about your inquiry.
- Files and content. Logos, images, PDFs, press releases and other materials you upload or link are stored privately and reviewed by our team. Press submitters confirm they’re authorized to share these materials for editorial consideration and use.
- Newsletter. If you sign up for updates we store your email, optional name, interests and markets, and when and where you signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us.
- SMS (optional). A mobile number is optional. We only send text messages if you also tick the separate SMS consent box; providing a number alone is not consent to texts. We record the consent text, time and page. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. We don’t sell or share mobile numbers or SMS consent with third parties for their marketing.
What we collect automatically
- First-party analytics. We record simple events such as page views of stories, events, brands and other pages, clicks on outbound links (for example RSVP, ticket, brand, product and venue links), and form starts and completions, along with the page, referring site and UTM parameters. Events are tied to a random per-tab identifier kept in session storage. We don’t use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking, and we don’t store IP addresses in our analytics.
- Abuse prevention. To limit spam and abuse we count requests per connection using a one-way, keyed hash of your IP address. The raw IP address is not stored, and counts are deleted within about a day.
- Browser storage. We use local and session storage to remember whether you dismissed or completed the newsletter prompt and to keep your form progress identifier.
How we use information
- To review and respond to inquiries, submissions and tips, and to plan events and coverage.
- To send the updates you asked for, by email and, only with separate consent, by text.
- To understand which pages and links are useful and to improve the site.
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.
We don’t sell personal information.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run popup.guide: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database and file storage) and Resend (email delivery). They process information on our behalf. Event registration for our November event is handled by Luma; information you give Luma is governed by Luma’s own privacy policy.
Editorial content
Public pages may describe brands, products, places and events based on public information or material provided to us. Contact details and private notes submitted with forms are not published. Submitting something never guarantees coverage.
Retention
We keep submissions and subscriber records while they’re useful for the purposes above, and partial form progress for as long as it’s relevant to following up. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your choices
Email partnerships@popup.guide to access, correct or delete your information, or to unsubscribe. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights, and we’ll honor applicable requests.
Children
popup.guide isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We’ll update this page when our practices change and revise the date above.
